Italian municipalities are getting ready for Expo with a series of events

To create a program of widespread entertainment and  cultural and tourist initiatives that will involve Italian cities and local administrations throughout the country: this is the main objective of the Anci-Expo 2015 agreement, signed recently in Milan between Expo 2015 and the National Association of Italian Municipalities (Anci).

“The signing of this protocol will establish Anci as a reference point for the Municipalities when organizing initiatives in preparation for Expo and staging events during the six month duration of the Milanese exposition.  In this way we will be able to involve all Italian centres and cities by giving them an extraordinary opportunity to re-launch the entire country thanks to the pooling of entrepreneurial, social and civic resources. We will start with 20 “Expo days” in all Italian regions, a program that will see the scheduling of events to be held between January 2014 and April 2015” commented Piero Fassino, Mayor of Turin and President of Anci.

Anci will support all the Municipalities to promote the most significant initiatives organized in the areas falling within their competency and to make them a part of the Universal Exposition. Over the next two years, a series of Expo events will be organized in Italian cities while, during the six months of Expo, six important, event-filled days will be organized by Italian Municipalities to promote the best that their destinations have to offer, with initiatives on themes related to nutrition.

“The document signed today with Italian Municipalities will strengthen the collective commitment to make Expo Milano 2015 a wholly Italian event. The Universal Exposition will not only take place at the exhibition area: for 184 days, the entire country will be called upon to contribute to the development  of the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, with cultural events and happenings that will serve as a means of promoting the individual local realities that comprise Sistema Italia. We have this fantastic opportunity to show just how rich our country is not only in terms of our food and agricultural industry but also as regards our historical, artistic and technological heritage”, commented Giuseppe Sala, Sole Commissioner and Government Appointee for Expo Milano 2015.
