The convention "Verso Expo 2015” held on 7 July at Villa Reale in Monza, served as an opportunity to take stock of the situation regarding the Universal Exposition themed Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life, scheduled to be hosted in Milan from 1 May to 31 October 2015.
The meeting was organized to outline the Expo Milano 2015 project to both Head of State Giorgio Napolitano and Italy’s prime minister Enrico Letta who both underlined the value of the event stating that it would serve as an opportunity to re-launch the country. Expo will be “at the heart of Italian recovery”.
At present, as many as 131 countries have registered to participate in the initiative. “Following the adhesion of Greece and Burundi, Expo 2015 has centred and surpassed the objective of 130 participating countries, the underlying objective of our candidacy dossier. Italy has once again confirmed its appeal on the international scene” commented its Sole Commissioner Giuseppe Sala.
Furthermore, during the convention, the president of the Regione Lombardia Roberto Maroni announced the advent of the World Expo Tour. “That which today – said Maroni – is just one of the many appointments that from now until 2015 will involve the capitals of countries participating in the exposition.” The next stopover planned is Brussels.
