Vinitaly, the main wine festival organised by Veronafiere, will be responsible for the oragnisation and management of the Wine Pavillion at Expo 2015. Diana Bracco, President Expo 2015 S.p.A. and Commissioner for the Italian Pavillion, commented: "Today's agreement is very important because another fundamental segment of Italian culture and production enters into the great mosaic of the Italian Pavillion at Expo 2015. Wine is particularly one of the central elements of our history and our own identity. Wineyards stud all our peninsula and make the Italian wine industry unique in the world for its variety and quality. The Italian Pavillion will be the heart of the whole Exhibition, and the fact that the European Union has decided to place its own exhibition space within it, just a short distance away from Italian wine, adds to its attractiveness.
The Wine Pavillion at Expo Milano 2015 will develop on a 2,000 msq surface and will be placed in the area belonging to the Italian Pavillion, exactly at the crossroads of the NE sector and the main corridor, thus, in the central square at the Expo entrance area , where it will benefit of maximum visibility. For the realisation of the space and its management, Vinitaly will work in unison with the Ministry of Forest Agricultural Nutrition Politics, the Italian Pavillion and Expo 2015 S.p.A. so as to involve the whole Italian wine supply chain: from the association of the great production groups, to the distribution committees to the individuals that spread its culture.
The Italian Wine Pavillion will relate the history and cultural traditions of the sector, will reserve a dedicated area for "first approach" to the world of our wine for millions of visitors who do not know it. It will reserve space for educationals through wine-tasting and a masterclass, as well as involving producers and testimonials, and will lead the specific "wine&food" matching; an important focus will also be given to wine tourism, on the territorial culture and the Italian beauties related to it.
There will also be a strong technological feature, that will offer real and proper virtual and interactive voyages to the discovery of equipment, machines and products for the production, bottling and packaging of wine. VIsitors will have the possiblity of accessing the "Enoteca dei vini italiani", with related wine shop, for the direct sale of the packaged product, with home delivery, and wine and Expo 2015 merchandising and gadgets.
