The Secretary of State of the United States John Kerry participated at the event through a simultaneous satellite connection from Washington to Milan: "Innovation is a vital lymph for the United States and, as global leader for the improvement of nutritional safety, we are proud to take this opportunity, committing with great enthusiasm to Expo Milano 2015", he declared.
At the ceremony were also present the Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015 Giuseppe Sala, the Mayor of Milan Giuliano Pisapia and the President of the Lombard Region Roberto Maroni, accompanied by the Partners of the USA Pavillion. The Stars and Stripes Pavillion will have "American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet" as its theme, and it will present the key role of the United States for the future of nutrition in the whole world.
Designed by the architect of worldwide fame, James Biber, the Pavillion will have inside it a fully functional vertical farm and will celebrate the history of agriculture in the United States and its success guided by innovation with numerous programmes and events, from interactive exhibitions to tasting experiences, from exhibitions and workshops to innovation accelerators.
"It is a pleasure to see the Expo site today dressed in Stars and Stripes and the traditional "food truck", that will be one of the characteristic elements in the set-up of the American space to welcome the Universal Exhition visitors of 2015. The United States are ready to officially start works for the construction of the Pavillion that, in terms of contents and of Visitor Experience, will definately be one of the most attractive and visited", said Giuseppe Sala.
