Two Italian cities were featured in the Travelers’ Choice® Destinations on the Rise 2012 by TripAdvisor, i.e. an award recognizing the destinations that have seen the greatest increase in positive traveler feedback and traveler interest, year-by-year. And this time, both Turin and Naples were named in the ranking.
The Piedmont capital was named third in the European list and an impressive tenth in the global ranking. Conversely, Naples earned fifth place in the European ranking.
Both cities boast a unique artistic and cultural heritage. Last year, Turin was the protagonist of the celebrations marking 150 years of Italian Unification with remarkable sights of interest including the Royal Residence of the Savoia which is a Unesco Heritage site.
The historic centre of Naples is also a UNESCO world heritage site. In fact, due to its plethora of churches, it is known as the city of 500 domes.
As underlined by Lorenzo Brufani, TripAdvisor’s spokesman in Italy, not only has travelers’ interest in Turin and Naples increased, but so has the positive feedback regarding the hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions found in both cities
