Sustainability is the key theme of the Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry, an association founded to promote congresses, meetings and events in the Lake Maggiore area, which will be present at EIBTM in Barcelona (27-29 November) with a stand that complies with the rules (9 out of 20) of the “20 Sustainable Actions” initiative of the event, developed to safeguard the environment.
The Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry will illustrate the various congress facilities available in the area which includes the provinces of Novara, Varese, Verbania Cusio Ossola and the Swiss canton of Locarno. Lago Maggiore Conference, Varese Convention&Visitors Bureau and the Convention Bureau of the Ente Turistico Lago Maggiore di Locarno, which are all part of the integrated system, can offer as many as 7, 926 rooms in 394 hotels and 50,310 seats distributed across 517 meeting rooms. The region also offers innumerable services including a list of the area’s "Top 10 Activities”, i.e. the ten experiences that the destination is capable of offering for incentive and team building activities ranging from skiing to golf, from rock climbing to biking and canyoning.
However, at EIBTM, the Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry will primarily present itself as a sustainable destination, thanks to the Green Meeting project which envisages the creation of a chain of suppliers who, by following a code of conduct based on the most successful international experiences, will implement a series of concrete, quantifiable measures for the organization of events and meetings in order to ensure that the latter make the least possible impact not only on the area but also on the environment.
