After Germany, the UK and Benelux, it was France’s turn: in fact, from 15 to 18 November, the “Fam Trip” organized by the Firenze Convention Bureau to provide French companies and DMC with information about the Tuscan province was held in Florence. Twenty one participants spent three days discovering Florence and its artistic and cultural heritage, thus giving them a chance to gain deeper insight into its tourist attractions and signature features.
In addition to the beauty of the city and the warm reception offered by its hotels, the French buyers had a chance to appreciate a number of initiatives including a visit to the Nuovo Teatro dell'Opera and the La Pergola Theatre with its secret backstage passageways; olive harvesting at the Tenuta di Maiano, a cocktail at the Ferragamo Museum as well as sophisticated dinners at Relais Santa Croce, the Salviatino Hotel and Palazzo Capponi (owned by Ferragamo).
“The Fam Trip”, commented Carlotta Ferrari, manager of Firenze Convention Bureau, “Is a type of promotional initiative on which we decided to focus because it gives buyers a chance to appreciate the quality of a destination in an informal way, allowing them to experience it as a guest rather than as an organizer. We inaugurated 2012 with a B2B dedicated to Germany, the UK and Benelux and we did the same thing with France. As regards the future, we are already working on 2 or 3 initiatives of this type scheduled to take place in 2013, with the selection of other European and non-European countries.
In addition to numerous partners of the consortium, the initiative developed by the Firenze Convention Bureau also saw the collaboration of international airline company Vueling which provided the flights and Treedom, a recently constituted Florence-based company that deals with neutralizing the C02 emissions produced during an event with reforestation projects in various parts of the world. In fact, to mark this particular “Fam Trip”, a forest will be planted in the Republic of Cameroon.
