Turin will host the 2015 World Chambers Congress, scheduled to be held from 12 to 15 June, which will be attended by the Chambers of Commerce of more than 120 countries for a total of 2,000 participants. Turin’s bid was accepted by the World Chambers Federation thanks to it rich programme, not only of a scientific nature but also as a top-class destination offering quality facilities, charming landscapes and local food excellence. Another success for the city, following hot on the heels of its being named European Capital of Sport just a few weeks ago. Turin won the bid against first-rate contenders including Geneva, Liverpool and Belfast.
This important result was achieved thanks to team work and close collaboration between the City of Turin, the Chamber of Commerce and Turismo Torino e Provincia which established an organizing committee supported by the National institutions, the Prime Minister, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Labour Ministry, the Regione Piemonte and large organizations including Azimut Benetti, Fiat Group, Lavazza, Finmeccanica, Intesa San Paolo, Unicredit, Expo 2015 and Gruppo Skyteam, which offered their partnerships for the initiative.
The Turin Chamber of Commerce has allocated a budget of 1.5 million euros to the congress, part of which will be invested in a capacity building budget, i.e. targeted at encouraging the participation of about 50 countries from Afghanistan to Zambia, included by the United Nations in the list of least developed countries.
The Turin Chamber of Commerce will be present at the next world congress scheduled to be held in Doha from 22 to 25 April 2013 to promote the 2015 event.
