Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry: educational green for European buyers

The educational tour organized for several European operators of the meetings and events industry by the Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry, the integrated system that promotes the congress offer of the Lake Maggiore area which includes the provinces of Novara, Varese, Verbania Cusio Ossola and the Swiss bank of Locarno, was held from 10 to 13 October.

The sixteen buyers from France, Italy, the UK, Germany and Switzerland, thus had a chance to gain insight into the highlights of the area and, above all, appreciate its green meeting opportunities. The Lago Maggiore Meeting Industry has, in fact, developed a project entitled Lago Maggiore Green Meeting which envisages the adoption of best practices to safeguard the environment during the organization of events and meetings.

The educational itself was organized in full respect of the environment, thanks to the collaboration of all the operators involved, ranging from hotel facilities, to catering services and transportation.

Guests were welcomed on Thursday evening at the Grand Hotel des Isles Borromèes in Stresa, while the presentation of the educational and dinner were held at the Sky Bar of Hotel La Palma. On the days that followed, participants visited a number of 4 and 5-star hotels in the lake area.

On Friday afternoon, the Grand Hotel Bristol in Stresa hosted a workshop with fifteen local operators (three convention bureaus, hotels, conference centres and agencies/dmc). After the meeting, the buyers took part in a cooking lesson held by starred chef Marco Sacco of the Piccolo Lago restaurant (2 Michelin stars), overlooking the charming Lake Mergozzo at the end of which they sampled the dishes prepared.

Saturday continued with a visit to several other hotels including the Regina Palace Hotel in Stresa, the Grand Hotel Dino and Hotel Splendid in Baveno and the Grand Hotel Majestic in Verbania-Pallanza. Attendees then took a boat trip to the palace and gardens of Isola Bella where the day ended with the tasting of wines and products sourced from the lake and the  pre-Alpine area on the Isola dei Pescatori at the Belvedere restaurant.

On the contrary, Sunday was spent on Lago d’Orta with a visit to the medieval village of San Giulio followed, after a delicious lunch at the panoramic Conca Azzurra restaurant, by a visit to the  Rocca di Angera.

Guests leaving from Malpensa airport were also given a chance to visit the Volandia flight museum.
