Jet Lag Rooster, the website designed to combat the negative effects of jet lag launched

Free, simple and effective are the three words used to define the new  www.jetlagrooster.com website which, thanks to a mathematical algorithm calculates how to prevent the unpleasant symptoms (nausea, headache, tiredness, sleepiness and insomnia) caused by jet lag.

Created by Jay Olson, a researcher at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, in Canada, and an expert in magic, the claim of the site is “use science to prevent jet lag”.

In fact, the Jet Lag Rooster site asks travellers to log-in place of origin and destination, dates, times and length of flight  as well as normal sleeping hours, specifying whether they wish to change their sleeping programme prior to departure, during the flight or on arrival. After which, in just a few seconds, it will provide tips on how to adjust to the change in time zone more quickly.

The programme provides an individual plan that suggests when to look for or avoid light to combat the unpleasant side-effects of jet lag; it gives useful tips to follow before, during and after your trip (for example, drink only water instead of tea, coffee or alcoholic beverages, take a nap as soon as you get to the hotel or have a shower) and  recommends the use of several objects (e.g. light boxes, masks, sunglasses) that help your biological clock deal more effectively with both the trip and jet lag.
