Protestant Weddings in Italy

This week we will talk about Protestant Weddings in Italy. This is a ceremony rich in symbolic content, which may have both religious and civil validity.

Protestant weddings vary depending on denomination: Lutheran, Episcopal, Methodist, Baptist and Presbyterian, to name a few.

The ring exchange is only a recent introduction to Protestant weddings (in the past only the bride received a ring). The officiant will bless the rings before handing them to the bride and groom.

Protestant ceremonies can be either a “Protestant blessing” without civil validity or a civilly binding Protestant wedding which includes the civil paperwork to make the ceremony legal.

Should you prefer an outside ceremony, the Amalfi Coast or Tuscan countryside are among the best scenarios. Should you prefer to celebrate your Italian Protestant marriage in a church, Italy has a rich history of beautiful Protestant churches of various denominations, particularly in cities such as Rome, Trieste, Venice and Florence. One of the finest venues and most famous  is the 18th century Protestant church in Florence with stunning stained glass windows, Gothic arches, and white marble exterior. There's a number of Protestant Churches in Italy, though not many. Some of the Protestant ministers are flexible and will perform the ceremony wherever you would like.
