The first low-cost hotel, the result of collaboration between Ikea and Marriott International is set to open in less than one year near Milan Malpensa’s Terminal 2 .
In fact, SEA, the company that manages the airports of Linate and Malpensa, recently signed an agreement with Inter Hospitality for the development of a "budget design hotel" at the low-cost flight terminal of the Lombardy hub.
Accessible on foot from Terminal 2, the hotel, the first of the Moxy chain to debut in Italy and in Europe, will be a 3-star facility featuring around 150 rooms. The building will be made entirely from eco-compatible materials to obtain A+ energy efficiency certification, currently the highest stipulated by the regulations in force.
The hotel is scheduled to open its doors to the public in the spring of next year; in the meantime, the foundations have been laid in preparation for construction of the building.
