The new Bologna Centrale Alta Velocità railway station will be opened on Saturday 8 June. Its four new underground platforms, dedicated to High-speed travel, will reduce travel time and free the overground lines for improved regional circulation.

Next Sunday’s inauguration is only the first stage in the opening of an ultra-modern station, scheduled to be completed at the end of the year and designed to improve the traffic of an important rail hub like that of Bologna, situated on the Milan-Florence-Rome line.

At the same time, the Bologna Mazzini stop of the Servizio Ferroviario Metropolitano (SFM) will also be opened in order to guarantee more rapid connections with trains of the metropolitan, regional and interregional lines, travelling towards the city centre, the Apennines and Pre-Apennines and Tuscany.

Also scheduled for opening on Sunday 9 June is the  new Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station designed by Catalan architect Santiago Calatrava and considered a prime example of contemporary architecture on an international level. The Reggio Emilia stop will be the only stop on the High-Speed railway line between Milan and Bologna.
