Hotel rates drop: in Palermo the average price of a hotel is almost half that of Milan

The June 2013  hotel rate barometer  of international booking portal hotel.info shows a general decrease in overnight stays, both on a national and international level, due to the currency fluctuations that have occurred over the last few months. In fact, the particularly strong euro has enabled European travellers to make significant savings.

Across the globe, hotel rates everywhere are decreasing:  the largest decreases in hotel rates are registered in Warsaw (-47%), San Paolo (-28.69%), Zurich (-14.60%), Hong Kong (-12%) and even  Tokyo (-24.51%).

Conversely, Italy shows two opposing trends: while Milan has registered an increase of +14.87% with an average room rate of  117.74 euros, in Palermo prices have decreased by 13.69% compared to June 2012, with an average rate of  66. 32 euros per room, almost half the price paid in Milan.

In Rome, prices have remained more or less the same as last year, with an average of  108.95 euros per night; conversely, in Naples, visitors have seen a  savings of 5%, and the price of an overnight stay has dropped to 74.75 euros against the 78.84 euros of June 2012.
