Rome
Rome

Rome is the most loved city by international visitors. This information was given by the Hotel Price Index of Hotels.com, a leading website for online hotel booking with over 240,000 facilities available all over the world.

Generally, the Italian destinations most aimed for by foreign visitors during 2013 have been the big cities. As far as Italy is concerned art desitnations have been especially preferred by tourists in the past year. Firmly maintaining the first place of the top ten of the most loved cities of Italy is Rome: The Eternal City gathers all the preferences and confirms itself as the incoming queen. In second place is Venice, with its canals and the charming Piazza San Marco, it remains among the favourite desitinations of those chosing Italy. In third place is Milan, the Italian capital of economy, business and shopping.

Fourth, fifth and sixth place are respectively awarded to Florence, the Tuscan capital city much loved by international travellers, followed by Bologna with its fascinating historic centre, and by Naples, land of pizza and Italian folklore. The last four positions go, in order, to Sorrento, also in Campania, Pisa, the Tuscan city of worldwide fame due to its leaning tower, the Sicilian Palermo, and to Verona, the capital city for lovers with its romantic balcony from which Juliette looked out to speak to her Romeo. In other lower positions placed other great Italian cities: Turin, for example, just missed making top ten, at 11th place, Genoa in 13th place, Rimini in 16th, and lastly Lucca, arriving in 20th position.
