2014 set to be a year of incoming

The New Year has begun on a note of optimism for Italian Incoming.

The good news comes from a report conducted by Enit - Agenzia Nazionale del Turismo through its foreign network.  From the interviews it emerges that, for 2014, the majority of TO’s are optimistic: 71% of them foresee an increase in sales, 25% say that these are likely to remain stable and only 4% maintain that they will decrease (compared to 2013).

Expectations regarding a growth in sales in 2014 are more widespread among overseas TOs (76%) versus European TOs (67%):  due to the ongoing economic crisis, the latter tend to show a more cautious optimism. In any case, the report shows that all TOs in the UK, Portugal and The Netherlands are convinced of increasing sales for Italy, while as far as overseas operators are concerned, those from South Korea, the Arab Emirates, China and Canada have a much more positive outlook regarding our country. The Enit report also documents good news for the MICE market: a recent survey on European agencies and suppliers reveals a more optimistic attitude than in past years.

In fact, more than half of the respondents foresee an increase in business over the next 12 months, and the great majority, 93%, say that the volume of events is either likely to increase or remain stable. The map of destinations most widely used in 2014 by European event organizers sees Italy ranked in second place, after Spain.
