Italy towards a “different” national convention bureau

ICCA Mediterranean Chapter
ICCA Mediterranean Chapter

The ICCA Mediterranean Chapter Summit,  the annual meeting of the chapter of the International Congress & Convention Association that brings together associates from Croatia, Egypt, south-east France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, Monaco, Serbia and Turkey, has just come to an end. Great satisfaction for the 70 participants of the 11 Countries and for the organisers for the two days work that has allowed the associates of ICCA to deal with themes of common interest related to the development of conventions to their destinations.

As far as future prospects, there is good news for Italy: during the Co-ordination table for the development of the Italian convention sector to which Federcongressi&eventi, the Regions of the MICE project in Italy, Enit, and the category associations (Confturismo-Confcommercio, Federturismo-Confindustria, Assoturismo-Confesercenti) have participated, a document was shared for the creation of an association of territorial private operators (convention bureaus, product clubs, convention centers and hotels) which takes charge of some of the National Conventional Bureau's functions, among which the identification of business opportunities, the promotion on international markets, formation and the stimulus to institute new local associations.

The project has the endorsement of Enit, which continues in its own promotiona activity of the Brand Italy supporting the participating to fairs and contributing to the creation of the Italian Convention Observatory. "Everything has been carried out with great enthusiasm with the Regions, Federcongrossi&eventi and the associations of the category, because we are convinced that the MICE sector offers a wide range of development and growth and we feel it is our institutional duty to do all that is possible for a true relaunch of Italy's image, both in the meeting industry field as well as in other products of the Italian touristic offer", declared the Director General of Enit Andrea Babbi, who participated in on fo the ICCA evenings.
