Rome, another treasure: the frescoes in the Gothic Hall

The extraordinary frescoes of the Gothic Hall at the Agostinian Monastry of the Four Crowned Saints, in Rome, are finally visible.

These are the most important cycle of medieval paintings dedicated to non religious subjects in Italy, for 300 metres squared (those that have been discovered, but they were 800 msq). In a space of 17 metres by 9 metres, 11 and a half metre high are found dolphins, the 12 months of the years and agricultural activities that corrispond to each, depiction of the Arts (Grammar, Geometry, Music, Mathematics and Astronomy), the Vices, Seasons, Zodiac signs, constellations, Virtues, Beatitudes, planets and allegorical figures. Classic, Byzantine, Southern and French Gothic co-exist and represent an important keystone in the comprehension of Roman artistic activities in the 13th century. Right infront of the Agostinian Monastery of the Four Crowned Saints, close to the Colosseum, there is the Hotel Capo d'Africa: privileged departure point for tours, even personalised, to the discovery of the Eternal City. Extremely sophisticated, the hotel offers 65 rooms, on three floors, a gym, and three elegant conference halls equipped with multimedia technologies and capacity of hosting up to 60 people. On the last floor there is the 2014 development of the hotel: the Attico Bistrot, which proposes in its panoramic hall with a double exposure on the terrace, a modern key, rivisited Roman cuisine.
