In Italy hotel prices are on the rise. And Milan feels the Expo effect

Milan
Milan

It has been a year of great increases for Italian hotel facilities. Rome and Milan, our symbol cities for leisure and business travel, have registered increases equal to, respectively, 7.5 and to 4.7 per cent. This is what has emerged from the Hotel Price Radar related to 2014 carried out by HRS, the hotel solutions provider leader in Europe for business travel.

To sleep by the Colosseum costs on average 104 Euros whereas one won't be able to participate to Expo events for less that 111 Euros. Increases that are against the current with respect to the touristic and commercial strategies adopted by some of our European neighbours: notwithstanding a slight increase of 1.1% sleeping in Berlin costs 86 Euros, Madrid with a 10% increase offers nights in hotel at 90 Euros.

A strong decrease in prices throughout all north Europe, Stockholm (130 Euro per night), Oslo (115 Euro) and Helsinki (117 Euro) have infact lowered prices respectively of 13,3%, 5.6% and 2.1%. London has taken Zurich's place as most expensive European city with rates equal to 165 Euros per night. The Swiss city is in second place with 144 Euros, followed by Paris (139 Euros) and Copenhagen (138 Euros). Due to the drastic decrease of the rouble one can sleep in Moscow spending 11.6 per cent less compared to 2013 (141 Euros).
