Italy and France are the champions of MICE in the European regions, Middle East and Africa. The verdict, which is more than gratifying, comes from Pacific World, a global organisation of DMC and Event Management, which has recently published the first Annual Destination Index Special Report.
The analysis shows that Rome, particularly, has conquered a growing popularity among international meeting planners. The credit for this is found both in the vast choice of locations, from conventional ones to "reinvented" ones, as well as in the ever vaster hotel choice available. In the last two years alone, in fact, thanks to important investments the receptive offer in the capital has grown by 7%.
Emanuele Pinna, Destination Manager Italy for Pacific World, comments: “Italy has benefitted of a great visibility thanks to important events carried out in our country last year, such as the International Conference on Nutrition, based in Rome and the World Summit of Nobel Prizes for Peace which was held in December 2014. Moreover, the partnership among Alitalia and Etihad Airways assured new possiblities for the Near and Far Oriental markets, making Italy even more reachable and attractive." As far as France is concerned, Paris, Strasbourg and the Loire Valley are the favourite destinations for organising meetings and events.
