Venice is increasingly expensive, at least as far a overnight stays in hotels: this has been revealed by the latest statistics issued by the Business Travel Observatory by HRS, which has released the new edition of the Hotel Price Radar regarding the average prices of hotels of all the world during the first trimester of 2015. The lagoon city, in fact, registers a +31% during the last year, claiming to be the most expensive Italian metropolis for visitors, both businesss as well as leisure, followed by Milan and Bolzano. Rome is only in fourth place whereas Naples registered lowest rates.

Venice, with an average price per room per night of 130 Euros, places in the ranking in the same place as Paris. However, if for the Ville Lumiére the increase has been contained compared to the same period last year (+4%) for San Marco's city the increase compared to 2014 has been of almost a third, equal to 31.3%. On an international level, New York is back to being the most expensive whereas St Petersburg is the most economic destination. Back to Italy, the more modest increases are registered in Turin (+6.3%), Bologna (+4.5%), Rome (+4.5%) and Milan (+0.9%). Florence remains stable, whereas prices decrease in Bolzano and Verona (-6.7%), Naples (-5.4%) and Genoa (-2.2%).

In general, however, Italy remains an affordable destination as far as hotel expenditure is concerned: the average rate per room in the main cities is equal to 94 Euros, against the 119 of the United Kingdon and the 101.30 of France.
