Inaugurated in spring, this year, the Enzo Ferrari House Museum in Modena, a museum complex also used as a venue for events dedicated to the founder of the famous Italian car racing company, has just opened a new exhibition entitled “The Great Challenges Ferrari-Maserati”. The event celebrates the history and competition between the two leading Italian car brands, an icon of “Made-in-Italy” excellence, with the display of 19 of the most representative and prestigious car models made by the two companies.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public until March 2013, includes a display area enriched by technological instruments, such as interactive screens placed next to the race cars displayed to provide visitors with information about the history and background of his inventions.
Built thanks to an investment of some 18 million Euros, the new museum complex, named after Enzo Ferrari, includes the house where Ferrari was born in 1898 as well as a new gallery boasting a futuristic design, featuring a shiny yellow aluminium roof made to look like the hood of a car, air vents and all. The house is attached to the workshop of Ferrari’s father, a carpenter and mechanic for the Italian railway. The colour yellow was chosen on account of being the symbolic colour of the city of Modena, chosen by Enzo Ferrari as a background for his world-renowned prancing horse.
The complex, which extends over a surface area of 5,000 sq.m., consists of permanent multimedia presentations that recount the life of Enzo Ferrari as well as a display area boasting flexible, modular props used either for exhibitions like the one currently on display or for public and private temporary events.
The Enzo Ferrari house museum also has a conference room capable of accommodating up to 150 people, equipped with cutting-edge audio-visual technologies which can be used for business meetings, presentations and conferences. The museum also offers visitors a coffee lounge restaurant, an educational hall featuring a digital documentation centre, a screening room and a store selling collector’s items, unique artefacts and original gift ideas.
