Over the next few years, the InterContinental Hotels Group is planning on opening 1,300 new hotels throughout the world including several in Italy, with particular focus on Northern and Central Italy. In fact, between 2013 and 2014, the group is planning on opening 3 hotels in Rome alone.
In view of this objective which will involve the recruitment of 160,000 resources on a global level, the hotel group has instituted several academies, i.e. managerial training schools for personnel at different levels (management, middle management, service managers and general staff positions ).
The IHG Academy Italy programme was presented yesterday at the InterContinental De La Ville Hotel in Rome, thus bringing the total number of academies to 100. Thanks to partnerships between UET Italia, the Università Europea per il Turismo and IHG Academy Italia, at the end of a 4 month training course at UET in Rome and a 6 month internship at several InterContinental hotels in Rome, the best students will receive a Masters in Hotel Management.
The Intercontinental Hotels Group owns and manages (either on a leasing or franchising basis) more than 4,400 hotels and over 640 thousand rooms in 100 countries throughout the world. At present, it also boasts 39 hotels in Italy.
