During the most recent edition of World Travel Market, which ended a few days ago in London, Royal Group Hotels & Resorts won a World Travel Market Global Award in the Innovation & Creativity category.
The award was given for the “Mr Royal – Rispettiamo e Salvaguardiamo l’Ambiente” project, an entertaining, 48 page comic-strip created in 2011, in which the main character, Mr. Royal, outlines the measures adopted by the Royal Group Hotels & Resorts to safeguard the environment, based on complying with the rule of the three Rs: “reduction, re-use and recycling”.
The initiative involved staff and customers, by engaging them and arousing awareness about safeguarding the planet through small, concrete, everyday actions and gestures which, if implemented, lead to the development of an innovative green management system.
“Today we are reaping the fruits of this experiment thanks to which the Royal Continental in Naples can now pride itself on being an ethical hotel not only boasting high levels of efficiency but also a market award. A result which, in itself, is extraordinary and which assumes even greater value in light of the present world crisis and the intrinsic difficulties of our local context” commented Gianluca Picone, General Manager of the Royal Group Hotels & Resorts, one of the brainchild’s behind the project who accepted the award in London.
Active in the hotel business for more than half a century, the Royal Group Hotels & Resorts brand represents six hotels, the majority of which are located in the Gulf of Naples, between Naples, Sorrento and Capri, and one in Rome.
