Now that the restructuring works on Venice’s Palazzo del Cinema have been completed, with the restoration of its Sala Grande, enlargement of its foyer with more display areas for meetings and catering services, modernization of its historic Pasinetti and Zorzi convention halls, the lagoon city is focusing on re-launching the Lido as the main hub of international congress events, targeted at a medium-high target.
Bearing this objective in mind, the city has made plans to incorporate Venice Convention, the body that manages the structures of the Lido, VELA (Venice’s public transport company) and Venezia Marketing & Eventi which deals with traditional appointments including Carnival, the Feast of the Redeemer and the historic Regatta, under one umbrella. This restructuring program is targeted not only at optimizing costs but also at achieving greater efficiency in terms of territorial marketing and promotional activities thanks to a cooperative agreement plan on the part of the various divisions.
Venice’s Lido boasts three congress structures: in addition to Palazzo del Cinema, it also houses Palazzo del Casinò and the PalaGalileo, two historic palaces and a large covered arena capable of accommodating up to 4,000 people.
In September and October alone, five large, international congresses have been scheduled for a total of 20,000 attendees (approximately 4,000 delegates over an average three-day period of attendance).
